In Ruminant Production, Periods of Stress Silently Erode Performance.

The pre- and post-calving transition period is the moment when immune capacity is at its lowest and environmental pressure is at its highest. Weaning in calves, lambs, and kids creates a similarly vulnerable window. Transportation, pen changes, and vaccination days are periods when stress-related digestive disruptions find fertile ground.

ATEX® contains acidified thymol ester stabilised through esterification technology. Unlike conventional thymol, it is non-volatile and does not irritate the digestive mucosa. Thanks to its high lipophilicity, it distributes effectively throughout the digestive tract, supports the maintenance of intestinal flora balance; this balance preserves feed utilisation during periods of stress and minimises performance losses.

The literature demonstrates that phytogenic thymol compounds support transition period immune function and contribute to digestive system health in ruminants. Gholami-Ahangaran et al. (2021, 117 citations) showed that thymol and carvacrol support immune response and improve feed utilisation by regulating intestinal microbial balance. Furthermore, Gan et al. (2025) directly demonstrated that thymol does not induce resistance in S. aureus and A. baumannii — its multi-target mechanical action mechanism means resistance development is not a concern.

To support digestive health during transition periods and times of stress and minimise performance losses, use ATEX® Ruminant!
