No matter how well the harvest is carried out, if oxygen continues to permeate the silage during storage, nutritional value declines a little more each day. Conventional PE covers provide physical protection, but their capacity to fully block oxygen is limited. Research consistently demonstrates that sealing quality directly determines silage dry matter losses, and that oxygen barrier films significantly reduce these losses (Borreani et al., 2007; 2018).
SealPlus Film 90µm holds oxygen at the silo surface through the EVOH layer at the centre of its 11-layer structure. Oxygen transmission under field conditions is 70 cm³/m²/24 hours — well below the 12,000 cm³/m²/24 hours of conventional PE covers. UV-resistant outer layers preserve the mechanical integrity of the film throughout extended storage periods.
